What metal should I use for a quarter pipe frame?
I am building a small quarterpipe for a shop class project. I am wondering what kind of metal would be the best to use for the frame work. I would use wood but our shop teacher will only let us use metal becuase I am not in the woodworking class. This is going to be outside too so any suggestions on the paint to waterproof it? Any suggestions on the type of metal to use?

aluminum or steel or any other light weight metals that are strong enough to support it. my suggestion is just to build a wooden frame.
Copper with brass fittings is really cool looking! Friend built a tapestry frame using these materials.

You can use galvanized pipe with copper fittings also. This doesn't requre much finishing other than a bit of buffing.

I just like the different metals used naturally and allowed to age naturally. Copper will patina to green and it always looks cool.
i would use half inch sch 40 pipe bend it to my radius and weld it up .......them lay a sheet of 3/16 aluminum over it and rivit it down and boom you are done with an A
